Residential Duct Cleaning

Providing Residential Duct Cleaning - Serving Oshawa, Whitby, Pickering, Ajax, Bowmanville, Uxbridge, Port Perry, Port Hope, Cobourg, Peterborough, GTA and Surrounding Areas

Did you know that the most common form of household dust is dead skin cells, mold, dirt, pet dander, pet hair and mildew? These are just a few of the many contaminants that could be in the unseen areas of your home's air ducts. Recent studies have shown that the indoor air we are breathing may be much worse than the polluted outdoor air.

All cleaning procedures performed by Double Diamond Air Duct Cleaning follow N.A.D.C.A. regulations (National Air Duct Cleaners Association). Here's how a professional air duct cleaning service company handles the job.

Our 10 Step Cleaning Process

Upon arriving at your home, the technician will ensure that the HVAC system is turned off before starting the cleaning process.

Step 1

The technician creates the appropriate access cut into the duct system in order to conduct a visual inspection. This is done for three reasons.

First, to see how much dust, dirt and debris has accumulated within the main truck line of the air duct system. Secondly, to show the customer how dirty the air duct system is before the cleaning process begins. This

visual inspection is conducted using a high powered flashlight and a mirror. Should the client make such a request photos can be taken (before and after) with a digital camera and provided to the client FREE OF CHARGE, upon completion of the cleaning process. (With Double Diamond, "Seeing Is Believing"). The third reason, is this access hole allows the technician to connect our eight inch vacuum hose to the main trunk line of the air duct system so the cleaning process can begin.

Air duct cleaning step 2

Step 2

The procedure begins by connecting an 8 inch vacuum line into the return section of the duct work, near the furnace.

Air duct cleaning step 3

Step 3

The system is then sealed using vent covers which cover up all vents, thus creating concentrated suction.

Air duct cleaning step 4

Step 4

Once the high-powered truck mounted vacuum is turned on, the system is then put under a negative pressure and the cleaning process can begin.

Air duct cleaning step 5

Step 5

The technician then systematically cleans each individual return vent using 250 p.s.i. of compressed air, utilizing a wide array of pneumatic tools such as air whips, air brushes, reverse and forward flow jetters, which are inserted by using flexible rods. Where contact is made, air washing is used to remove all caked-on dirt, dust and debris from the interior surfaces of all secondary duct lines.

Air duct cleaning step 6

Step 6

This process is then continued until all return vents are adequately cleaned. The vacuum is then switched to the supply section of the duct work and the procedure is repeated with all supply vents.

Air duct cleaning step 7

Step 7

Following the air washing of all secondary ducts or branch lines, the technician continues the cleaning process in the basement on all main trunk lines. Again, the air whips and reverse flow jetters or reverse air snakes are inserted into the main duct work through a series of 1 inch holes. The 250 psi compressed air washing removes all caked-on dust, dirt and debris, which is blown back toward the vacuum and all contamination

is contained and removed by our powerful truck-mounted vacuum system. PLEASE NOTE: Although the force of the vacuum system and 250 psi compressed air is tremendous, it WILL NOT harm or alter the duct work. Watch our YouTube video of a duct line being cleaned on You Tube. You will be amazed at the difference it makes when you use the right equipment!

Air duct cleaning step 8

Step 8

The technician cleans the furnace fan housing, motor, all furnace compartments, the plenum and furnace air filter is either cleaned or replaced. You are then shown the results of the air duct cleaning service by using a digital camera or visually with a high-powered flashlight and mirror. (With Double Diamond, Seeing Is Believing). As stated earlier, we will supply digital photographs of the work after completion upon request (before and after), and also at NO CHARGE.

OPTIONAL (at additional cost) - Mold & Bacteria Control (Fogging)

Many of our clients like to take advantage of our "Fogging" service while having their air vents cleaned. This part of the service is optional at an additional cost. Moisture and heat in the ducts and duct work creates an ideal breeding ground for mold and bacteria, which can and often do accumulate here. Sometimes this mold and mildew can cause an unpleasant living experience and help lead to various breathing problems. A sanitizer may be recommended in certain instances where evidence of this growth is visible. These sanitizers are designed and formulated to kill 99.9% of all bacteria within the duct system. The technician would apply this solution at the end of the cleaning process, using a fogging machine that disperses a powerful mist throughout the duct system. Once done, the system is turned on, to allow the sanitizer to be circulated throughout all ducts and vents. Being environmentally conscientious, we use a sanitizer that is all natural, odourless and biodegradable.

Air duct cleaning step 9

Step 9

All access panels and 1 inch holes are sealed air tight and the system is turned back on to its original settings and cycled to ensure it is operating properly.

Air duct cleaning step 10

Step 10

Your air duct system is now completely cleaned. You will immediately benefit from having your air ducts cleaned, as the effects of cleaner air are noticeable right away. If you or any member of your family suffers from dust or pet allergies, you will then notice that such symptoms have been drastically reduced, if not completely eliminated.

With this service, we also provide FREE HVAC system evaluation and recommendations. This evaluation, performed by one of our professional technicians will determine how your system is operating and he will make recommendations based on what is observed. These recommendations are intended to increase the efficiency of your system, cut your operational costs and save you both energy and money.

Remember, if you have used another company in the past for air duct cleaning that did not follow these tried-and-true steps, they are not following N.A.D.C.A. regulations, and chances are high that your air ducts were not properly cleaned.

Mold & Bacteria Control (Fogging)

The insides of a residential air ducting system are breeding grounds for mold and bacteria because of the constant changes in temperature and moisture. These substances may cause an unpleasant living condition, or could lead to complications for persons that suffer from various afflictions such as asthma and allergies. Double Diamond Air Duct Cleaning recommends the use of a quality sanitizer when there is evidence of this growth.

We use a specially formulated sanitizer (concrobium) designed to kill 99.9% of all mold and bacteria within the duct system while at the same time being completely safe for

your home. The product that we use is all natural, odourless and biodegradable to ensure your complete safety. This solution is applied after the cleaning process is done via a fogging machine that sends a powerful mist throughout the entire duct system. Once "fogged", the system is turned on in order to let the sanitizer circulate throughout.
